Cliff Scaling in the Peak District
Even complete novices will quickly be climbing protected Peak District outcrops on this short session. Learners will learn tying in, belaying and multiple methods of ascent, along with descending. This program is appropriate for all individuals aged 13 and over, ranging from first-time climbers to those with limited gym climbing background. Non-Representational Art in Spain
Moclín, a historic white village in southern Spain, about 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the breathtaking setting for this painting holiday. Artists of every skill level – including novices – will be taught how to conceive and execute modern art. Part of the schedule will be spent outside, working on structured activities en plein air. These charcoal drawings and paintings will then be worked on in the workspace, with participants completing several abstract landscapes in acrylic paint to be displayed in the local community. Participants has sole use of the venue, which is set around an open courtyard and has a sun terrace with panoramic vistas over the hills. The price covers five days of art instruction; full board; and an outing to the local castle and other local sights.

Plant-Based Culinary in the Algarve
This Mediterranean foodie getaway, based at a riverside villa in the inland Portuguese region, is inspired by the vegetarian dishes of celebrated cooks. Participants will master the art of selection of small dishes, take part in a falafel-making workshop, refine brunch dishes such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses such as a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. The schedule includes trips to the local market and a nearby winery to sample Portuguese wines, plus leisure time for strolls by the Funcho River, to relax on the terrace or take a dip in the infinity pool. The villa, a renovated rural property, has multiple rooms, plus glamping tents in the gardens.

Hip Hop in Buckinghamshire
This energetic camp is an energizing, welcoming three-day adults’ street dance camp in High Wycombe. The daily schedule throughout the camp is a party-style warm-up session, then three 90-minute classes covering different street dance styles, then an hour-long freestyle session to show off those solos. Dancers are divided into levels according to ability and experience, so it is perfect for those who are completely new to popping and locking, right up to advanced dancers or instructors. The camp doesn’t include lodging but there are a number of hostels and hotels nearby, and it is 23-35 minutes by train into central London.

Sea Shanty Break in Cornwall
This coastal town is the perfect spot for a sea shanty weekend. Guests will be taught traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at writing their own. The schedule includes voice exercises, breathing exercises, performance tips and a closing performance. The retreat is held in a rural hotel with views of St Ives Bay. Full board are included, such as a traditional tea on the first day, breakfast options, packed lunches and evening meals. Grog, alas, is not provided. Creative Writing in Greece
Writer and tutor Greg Mosse conducts the daily workshops on this authors' getaway. He explores topics including plot, character development, setting and suspense, to sending manuscripts to publishers. A co-host, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will co-host events at the start and finish of the week. The holiday is held at a village-style hotel in Vamos at the base of the Lefka Ori – ten one- and two-bedroom cottages surround a garden and pool (companions are encouraged to share). On the last night, budding authors mark the occasion with a musical performance in the garden and a farewell dinner.

Beginners' Apiculture in Wales
The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a host of courses covering sustainability: from wildlife gardening to upcycling. This weekend introduction will help attendees get to grips with the basics of beekeeping, study the life cycle of bees and discover their ecological importance. It is designed to produce “bee-friendly beekeepers”. The weekend is also a chance to relax in the organization's sustainably managed woodlands, which are home to wildlife, otters, dormice, bats and rare birds. These recently launched summer sailing weekends are spent on Wayfarers and Dufours on the estuary in Essex.
