The debated, US and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) declares it is terminating its relief activities in the Gaza region, after almost six months.

The organisation had earlier paused its several relief locations in Gaza subsequent to the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect recently.

The GHF aimed to bypass the UN as the main supplier of aid to Gaza's population.

International relief agencies declined to participate with its methodology, claiming it was improper and dangerous.

Many residents were killed while seeking food amid chaotic scenes near GHF's sites, mainly through Israeli military action, as reported by United Nations.

Israel said its troops fired warning shots.

Operation Conclusion

The organization declared on the beginning of the week that it was concluding activities now because of the "successful completion of its crisis response", with a cumulative three million shipments containing the equivalent of more than 187 million meals distributed to Gazans.

The foundation's chief officer, the executive director, also said the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Centre (CMCC) - which has been set up to help execute US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan - would be "implementing and enlarging the model GHF piloted".

The Palestinian faction - which refutes aid diversion claims - welcomed the closure of the GHF, according to reports.

The foundation's nourishment distribution centers in southern and central Gaza were operated by US private security contractors and situated within areas controlled by Israeli forces.

The UN and its partners stated the system contravened the basic relief guidelines of objectivity, fairness and autonomy, and that guiding distressed residents into military-controlled areas was fundamentally dangerous.

International human rights monitoring body stated it documented the fatalities of no fewer than 859 Gazans trying to acquire sustenance in the proximity to foundation locations between 26 May and 31 July.

An additional 514 individuals were fatally wounded around the courses followed by international humanitarian deliveries, it further stated.

The greater part of these people were killed by the Israeli forces, according to the office.
