Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will return for the upcoming Hunger Games series film, Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that beloved actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Major Reunion for Fans
Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their roles will probably be featured in a brief glimpse ahead, as the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This signifies the sixth film in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed most of the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The film welcomes several accomplished actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
