The star has revealed that she believes it's no longer suitable to comment publicly against the Trump presidency, concerned it could worsen polarizing arguments and deepen rifts throughout the United States.

‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Notes Jennifer Lawrence

Speaking with media, the Oscar winner reflected, “During the first Trump administration, I believed I was acting frantically in a panicked state. But it’s become clear, over multiple voting cycles, public figures do not make a difference whatsoever on who people vote for.”

Lawrence added, “Why continue? I’m just sharing my opinion on an issue that’s going to heighten conflict that’s ripping the country apart.”

Shifting Views

Lawrence has previously been open about voting for both conservative and liberal contenders throughout her life. Raised by a right-leaning family in Kentucky, she voted for John McCain in the 2008 election prior to switching to the left-leaning politics and explaining she understood during the Obama era that backing conservatives was undermining her own rights as a female citizen.

Several years ago, she remarked that Donald Trump’s election could represent “the end of the world” and publicly supported the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. More recently, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “as I feel she’s an amazing candidate and I am confident that she will do whatever she can to safeguard women’s health rights.”

Jennifer Lawrence was aligned with most of Hollywood in her rejection of the former president as a returning figure, but the minimal impact stars have over the electoral decisions was emphasized by the outcome.

“The second term feels different,” commented she of Trump’s presidency. “Because he made his plans clear. We knew what he did for his first term. He was transparent. And voters made that decision.”

“It was fear about my child,” she said, “imagining every potential danger, and then second-guessing everything that I was trying. I was receiving counseling, but I started taking a treatment called the prescription and I continued it for a short period and it was effective.”

“There’s a freedom,” she commented, of being forced to set aside self-consciousness. “Honestly, I do have moments where I’m like, What separates me between my work and that profession? But it doesn’t keep me up at night.”
