Liverpool's Star Issues Statement to Teammates, Reveals Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the team in the wake of the uproar from his public comments.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The manager has previously declined to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I get that there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have been impressive in the period after the initial controversy. The player is convinced the Salah's words were not intended to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and starting to win games.”
