President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.

He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The president stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both members of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump addressed the press. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”

Mourners gathered over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both they had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to support public safety in DC.

“She was the type of pupil that instructors desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her previous school, informed the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to help others.”

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” he told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
